Windows and Mac can play together. Create a room on either, share the code, and your friend joins from the other. Both players need the same version.

Install steps

Windows

  1. Unzip CrownFall_Windows.zip anywhere you like, for example your Desktop or Documents folder.
  2. Open the folder and run CrownFall.exe.
  3. If Windows SmartScreen says it protected your PC, click More info, then Run anyway. The beta isn't code-signed yet, so Windows doesn't recognise it.
  4. When Windows Firewall asks, click Allow access so online and local matches can connect.

Mac

  1. Unzip CrownFall_Mac.zip (double-click it in Downloads).
  2. Drag CrownFall.app into your Applications folder.
  3. Open it. The first launch is blocked because the app isn't from the App Store. Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down, and click Open Anyway.
  4. If macOS says the app is damaged, open Terminal and run:
    xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/CrownFall.app
    Then open it again.
  5. When asked, allow CrownFall to find devices on your local network, so online and LAN matches can connect.
